YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...  Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible from around 3 PM MDT (4 PM CDT) to midnight MDT (1 AM CDT), mainly along and north of Interstate 70. The primary hazard will be localized, sudden and potentially damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph followed by cloud to ground lightning which may initiate wildfires.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...  A conditional threat for severe weather exists east of Highway 83 Friday evening with lightning induced wildfires and 60 mph winds the main hazards. A large hail stone up to quarter size can't be ruled out as well.  Heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees are expected Friday afternoon along and east of Kansas Highway 27. Heat index values of 100 to 107 degrees are expected Saturday afternoon along and east of the Colorado Kansas border. Be sure to drink plenty of water and check on pets and the elderly during the hottest part of the day.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation will not be needed.
