…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…

The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of South Dakota and Wyoming,
including the following areas, in South Dakota, Butte,
Harding, Perkins, the Central Black Hills, the Custer County
Plains, the Hermosa Foot Hills, the Northern Black Hills, the
Northern Foot Hills, the Northern Meade County Plains, the
Pennington County Plains, the Rapid City area, the Southern
Black Hills, the Southern Foot Hills, the Southern Meade
County Plains, and the Sturgis/Piedmont Foot Hills. In
Wyoming, Northeastern Crook County, Western Crook County, the
Weston County Plains, and the Wyoming Black Hills.

* From 3 PM MDT this afternoon through late tonight

* With abundant moisture in place, some thunderstorms with heavy
rainfall are likely again this afternoon into tonight. Areas of
heavy rainfall from yesterday through early this morning have
saturated the ground. Additional heavy rainfall could cause
flash flooding, with some rivers and creeks likely to rise
quickly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A flash flood watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain over the watch area, which may cause flash flooding along
streams, creeks, canyons, and draws. If you are in the watch
area, monitor noaa weather radio and local media for updated
forecasts. Be ready to quickly move to higher ground, if heavy
rain occurs, rising water levels are observed, or a warning is
issued.
