YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado. .DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT... A few hours of critical fire danger conditions due to humidities less than 15 percent and periods of wind gusts to 25 mph will occur east of a McCook to Hoxie line. Winds are expected to decrease through the late afternoon. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY... A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Yuma and a Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Dundy, Cheyenne county in Kansas and Kit Carson counties for Wednesday afternoon and early evening. Strong northwesterly winds gusting in excess of 50 mph combined with dry conditions will create an environment favorable for explosive fire growth. A cold front will move through the region bringing a brief period of strong northerly winds gusting to 50 mph Wednesday evening. This may make travel difficult due to strong cross winds on east to west oriented roads. In addition, there is a small threat for significantly reduced visibility due to blowing dust as front passes. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not expected today or tonight.
