This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska…
northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.
.DAY ONE…THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT…
The passage of a cold front this afternoon and early evening could
bring wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph to the area. Blowing dust could
occur as a result. Elevated fire weather concerns this afternoon with
relative humidity values dropping to near warning criteria. The main
concern is if any thunderstorms develop, lightning strikes could
cause fires as the entire Tri-State area is dry at this time.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…SATURDAY THROUGH FRIDAY…
Some elevated fire weather concerns for the area on Saturday and
Sunday. Saturday has a better chance to meet fire weather condition
criteria primarily in eastern Colorado. Gusty winds will be
widespread Sunday but relative humidity is not expected to reach
Strong wind gusts near 50 mph are possible for the
area on Sunday afternoon. Blowing dust could occur as a result.
