YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado. .DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT... A couple rounds of thunderstorms are expected to develop and impact the region today. The first round should develop along and west of the Colorado border this afternoon and early evening. These storms will be capable of large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, and perhaps a tornado. A second round of storms is expected late tonight, likely after midnight for most of the region. These storms will be capable of damaging winds and heavy rainfall. A Flood Watch has been issued for eastern Colorado and portions of western Kansas through Thursday morning as multiple rounds of thunderstorms are anticipated. Most of the area covered by the flood watch has also observed heavy rainfall or flooding over the past week, so these locations are more susceptible to flash flooding due to soaked soils. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY... Additional rounds of storms are expected Thursday and Friday afternoon and evenings. Some storms will be strong to severe with the potential for large hail and damaging wind. A tornado or two can not be ruled out for Friday. Torrential rainfall will be possible with these storms, leading to the continued risk for flash flooding. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will likely be required, beginning as early as this afternoon. Please report any large hail, damaging wind, funnel clouds, tornadoes, and flash flooding to your local National Weather Service office.
