This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado. .DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT... Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible late this afternoon through early this evening along and south of a line from near Yuma to Scott City. This is due to a weather system moving in from the southwest. Primary hazards include hail up to the size of half dollars, wind gusts up to 60 mph and locally heavy rainfall which could produce flash flooding. As the thunderstorms continue moving very slowly to the northeast from early evening through much of the overnight hours, they'll encounter increasing moisture and lift, promoting rainfall rates of up to four inches per hour. As a result, there will be a heightened threat for flash flooding in Cheyenne and Kit Carson counties in Colorado, Sherman and Wallace counties in Kansas. A Flood Watch is in effect for these counties from 3 PM MDT through 6 AM MDT. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH MONDAY... Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be possible from Tuesday through Friday. Widespread severe weather is not expected at this time. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not expected at this time. We would appreciate reports of severe weather, rainfall and flash flooding via telephone and social media.
