…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR THE MOUNTAINS ALONG AND NORTH OF
RABBIT EARS PASS…
This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central
Colorado.
.DAY ONE…Today and Tonight
Snow will increase over the mountains today as an upper level
disturbance moves across the state. Accumulations of 1 to 4
inches can be expected along the I-70 Mountain Corridor and Summit
County, with amounts increasing to the north with 4 to 8 inches
expected along and north of Rabbit Ears Pass. Roads will likely
become snow covered and slick during the heavier showers today,
and in most mountain locales tonight as temperatures drop. If you
are traveling in the northern mountains of Colorado, be prepared
for slick and hazardous winter travel conditions.
Along the I-25 Corridor, only isolated to scattered light rain and
snow showers can be expected later this morning into the
afternoon. However, rain and snow will become more widespread
over the eastern plains late this afternoon and evening. Local
snow accumulations around 1 inch will be possible in the grass,
mainly along and south of a line from Castle Rock to Akron and
Julesburg. Most areas will only see a dusting.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Tuesday through Sunday
The next storm will bring more light snow to the mountains from Tuesday
afternoon through Wednesday night. Accumulations will not be
significant. The plains can expect a chance of light snow from
Wednesday into Wednesday evening. Accumulations are not expected.
Northerly flow aloft, with upper ridging west of Colorado, will
keep of a chance of light snow going in the mountains Thursday and
Friday.
