WASHINGTON COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight  Light snow showers will continue in the mountains today, then diminishing this evening. This may impact travel with snow and blowing snow creating low visibility and slick roads. Additional accumulations today will be 1 to 4 inches.  The plains will see a chance of rain and snow showers, with the majority of snowfall confined over the Southern Front Range foothills and Palmer Divide with accumulations of 2 to 6 inches. In addition to the showers, strong northerly winds with gusts up to 55 mph can be expected across the eastern plains. This could create blowing dust and perhaps travel impacts, especially on I-70 and I-76. The strongest winds will be across Lincoln county and also further north with areas bordering Wyoming and Nebraska. The winds will decrease this evening.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday  Tuesday and Wednesday will be mild and dry which will be good for travelers. A storm system will begin approaching Colorado late on Thursday which will bring colder temperatures for Thanksgiving. Confidence is growing that this system will bring a widespread light to moderate snowfall to our forecast area. This will likely start Thursday evening and last into Saturday morning. Travel for much of the day Thursday will likely be good but will deteriorate by Friday and into Saturday. Another impact will be the cold temperatures which could reach the single digits across the plains and below 0 across the higher terrain Friday and Saturday nights.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation will not be needed, however any snowfall and strong wind reports will be appreciated.
