Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 220100Z – 221200Z

Thunderstorms are not expected across the US tonight.

Early-evening water-vapor imagery depicts a strong short-wave trough
shifting inland across WA/OR. As this feature moves east.
large-scale forcing for ascent will spread across the northern
Rockies, well displaced from weakly buoyant, marine-influenced
coastal regions. Although 00z soundings from UIL and SLE continue to
support weak convection (as shown by local radar), increasingly
subsident flow regime suggests lightning probabilities will rapidly
decrease to less than 10%.
