Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 170100Z – 171200Z

Severe thunderstorms are not expected tonight.

…Southern Plains…

Plume of deep subtropical moisture will continue to spread through
the Southern Plains tonight, downstream from a progressive
southern-stream shortwave trough near Baja that will reach the
southern High Plains late tonight. A strengthening southerly
low-level jet will maintain a broad corridor of isentropic ascent
and weak theta-e advection in post frontal zone across much of TX
and OK. Instability will remain very marginal in this region with
100-300 J/kg MUCAPE primarily in the 700-400 mb layer, but will be
sufficient for a few embedded thunderstorms within a more general
area of scattered showers.
