Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 241300Z – 251200Z

Isolated thunderstorms may occur today and tonight across portions
of the Southwest. Severe thunderstorms are not expected.

Split cyclonically curved westerlies will prevail over the western
half of the CONUS through tonight. This includes a shortwave trough
near the Baja Peninsula this morning, which will influence
thunderstorm potential today within a weakly unstable environment
across Arizona as the mid-level trough continues northeastward
toward the southern Rockies/Four Corners. Other isolated
thunderstorms could occur late tonight/early Wednesday near the
northern/central California coast as an additional shortwave trough
amplifies/digs toward the West Coast.
