Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 120100Z – 121200Z

…NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST…

…SUMMARY…
Severe thunderstorms are not expected tonight.

…South Florida…

Convergence along a slow-moving cold front will continue to promote
a few thunderstorms over a portion of south FL through about 03Z.
However, a stabilizing boundary layer will result in a gradual
diminishing trend.

…Western Washington State…

Destabilization and steepening lapse rates resulting from cooling
mid-level temperatures accompanying a low-amplitude shortwave trough
will spread through western WA later tonight, resulting in 100-300
J/kg MUCAPE. Scattered convection developing in this regime might
become capable of producing a few lightning flashes late in the
period.

…Northern New York…

Isolated lightning flashes will remain possible through 02Z in
association with a lake effect snow band downwind of Lake Ontario.
However, tendency will be for equilibrium levels to gradually fall
as heights and 700-800 mb temperatures rise in wake of a progressive
shortwave trough.
