Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 101300Z – 111200Z

…NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST…

…SUMMARY…
Thunderstorms will be possible today from parts of Texas eastward to
the lower Mississippi Valley, southern Atlantic Seaboard and
Florida. No severe threat is expected across the continental United
States today or tonight.

…DISCUSSION…
A mid-level cyclonic flow pattern will be present across much of the
CONUS today as an upper-level trough moves eastward through the
Mississippi Valley. A broad 100 to 125 kt mid-level jet will move
northeastward across the Ohio Valley and central to northern
Appalachian Mountains. At the surface, a cold front will advance
southeastward across the lower Mississippi valley, central Gulf
Coast States and southern Appalachians. Thunderstorms will be
possible along the front from the Texas Coastal Plains northeastward
into the central Gulf Coast states just ahead of a moist airmass.
Thunderstorms will also be possible tonight from parts of Florida
northeastward into the eastern Carolinas as the front moves eastward
toward the Atlantic. Due to weak instability, a severe threat is not
expected across the CONUS today or tonight.
