Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 032000Z – 041200Z

…NO THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST…

…SUMMARY…
The risk for thunderstorms appears negligible across the U.S.
through tonight.

…20Z Outlook Update…
Lightning sensor data indicate occasional lightning is present in
convection associated with the mid-level low, which is now still
centered 400 miles west-southwest of Monterey CA. Most of this
appears to be occurring near the mid-level cold core. Although an
eastward acceleration of the low is forecast later this afternoon
into tonight, any appreciable risk for thunderstorms still seems
likely to remain offshore of the central/southern California coast
through 12Z Wednesday.

.PREV DISCUSSION… /ISSUED 0935 AM CST Tue Dec 03 2019/

…Synopsis…
Cool, stable conditions across much of the Lower 48 will limit
thunderstorm potential to less than 10% in all areas. Very late in
the period, and upper low well west of the central California coast
will migrate eastward and may result in a few lightning strikes, but
the bulk of this potential should hold off through 12Z Wednesday.
