Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 161300Z – 171200Z

Severe thunderstorms are not expected across the U.S. today or

A semi-amplified but mostly progressive large-scale flow pattern
exists across the CONUS. Within this regime, a southern-stream
closed low centered over eastern Georgia and northeast Florida this
morning is most relevant to thunderstorm potential as it continues
eastward today. While the surface warm/moist sector will remain
offshore, modest elevated instability will support some
thunderstorms into/near the coastal Carolinas today, although the
greater storm coverage/intensity will remain decidedly offshore
today and especially tonight.

Elsewhere, thunderstorms are not expected owing to the prevalence of
dry/stable conditions.
