Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 151300Z – 161200Z

…NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST…

…SUMMARY…
Scattered thunderstorms are possible today across parts of the
coastal Southeast, although severe thunderstorms are unlikely.

…Florida/coastal Southeast…
A southern-stream trough centered over Mississippi/western Tennessee
early today will continue generally eastward and reach the coastal
Southeast tonight. After stalling across the north-central Florida
Peninsula, a front will begin to accelerate southeastward across the
Florida Peninsula today. While isolated thunderstorms are possible
across the Peninsula, prevalent cloud cover should limit overall
destabilization inland, while stronger low-level convergence should
refocus off the Atlantic coast as a surface low becomes better
defined offshore. Organized severe thunderstorms appear unlikely,
although a couple of stronger storms with gusty winds cannot be
ruled out across west-central/southwest Florida today, and/or off
coastal North Carolina tonight.
