Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 081200Z – 091200Z

Severe thunderstorms are not expected across the U.S. mainland

A cold front will move southward through the FL Peninsula today,
preceded by a moist and modestly unstable warm sector. The 00Z RAOB
data from Thursday evening showed very weak mid-level lapse rates
and an inversion around 600-650 mb. A few showers and thunderstorms
might develop in the FL warm sector, especially in association with
seabreeze boundaries this afternoon. However, most of the deeper
convection will likely occur in the zone of ascent along and north
of the front. Stronger winds aloft within base of the eastern U.S.
upper trough will remain in the marginally unstable post-frontal
region, and given the modest kinematic environment in warm sector,
no severe storms are anticipated.
