Combination of weak boundary-layer heating and low-level convergence
has contributed to a few showers and isolated thunderstorms across
south Florida. Diurnal cooling should contribute to weakening
convection over the next few hours.
Weak convection has been noted across the lower Great Lakes region
over the last several hours with some lightning noted over Lake
Erie. This band of convection will likely persist due to favorable
shear but lightning should remain sparse and mostly over the warmer
waters. A few strikes may also be noted with convection that
develops over Lake Ontario, but thunder should remain limited away
from more buoyant lake influence.
