Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 131200Z – 141200Z

…NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST…

…SUMMARY…
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible today mainly across
portions of the Gulf Coast and eastern U.S. from Alabama into
southeastern Virginia. Severe storms are not expected.

…Synopsis…
A closed upper-level low will continue its progression through the
upper Great Lakes into southeastern Canada today. A subtle shortwave
trough along the southern fringe of the upper-level system will
interact with a stalled surface boundary across southeastern
Virginia southwestward into portions of central Alabama. Isolated to
scattered thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon as this
occurs. Southerly flow across the Texas/Louisiana coasts is expected
to increase by late in the period. Weak warm advection along a
northward advancing warm front will foster isolated to widely
scattered thunderstorms. Weak buoyancy will limit the potential for
organized severe storms.
