Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 071300Z – 081200Z

…NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST…

…SUMMARY…
While severe storms are not expected, isolated thunderstorms will
occur today from the Mid-Atlantic States to south Texas.

…Discussion…
Mean troughing will transition eastward across the eastern CONUS
today although the pattern will tend to deamplify with
splitting/weakening westerlies through late tonight and early
Tuesday. In the west, a larger/more potent trough will dig
south-southeastward along the British Columbia coast, approaching
the Pacific Northwest tonight.

The weakening trough over the eastern third of the CONUS and the
southeast-advancing cold front near the Appalachians to Lower
Mississippi Valley and South Texas will be relevant features for
thunderstorm potential. However, with only modest CAPE expected
near/ahead of the front, and limited vertical shear with southward
extent, organized severe weather is not expected today or tonight.
