Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 050100Z – 051200Z

…THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER PORTIONS OF
NORTHERN NEBRASKA AND SOUTHERN SOUTH DAKOTA…

…SUMMARY…
Isolated thunderstorms — and possibly a marginally severe hailstone
or two — may occur from northwest Nebraska into southern South
Dakota tonight.

…Discussion…
Little severe risk is evident across the U.S. this evening, though
thunderstorms are ongoing in several areas, including the Gulf
Coastal region and into the southern Plains, as well as over
portions of the West.

The only potential for a few stronger storms evident at this time
remains over parts of northern Nebraska and southern South Dakota.
Here, a few elevated storms will likely evolve, as a short-wave
mid-level trough crosses the Wyoming vicinity. While a few hail
events — with one or two possibly nearing severe levels — cannot
be ruled out, risk appears quite low through the period.
