…THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM PORTIONS OF
KS TO NORTHWESTERN AR…
Storms capable of large hail are expected over parts of Kansas,
Oklahoma, southern Missouri, and Arkansas tonight along with a few
strong wind gusts.
Exit region of mid-level speed max is shifting across northeast NM
toward the central High Plains. Latest vis satellite imagery depicts
an expanding/deepening cu field across southeast CO into
southwestern KS. It appears large-scale support is beginning to
influence this agitated zone and thunderstorms will likely evolve
over southwestern KS into northwestern OK over the next several
hours. While 00z soundings from this region are currently strongly
capped, cooling/moistening within the zone of ascent should result
in profiles becoming uncapped for parcels lifted between 800-700mb.
Multiple thunderstorm clusters, some supercellular, should evolve
and progress along the KS/OK border. Hail should be the primary
threat as this activity will be rooted atop the boundary layer with
inflow being fed by strengthening LLJ.
