…NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST…
Isolated thunderstorms will be possible Saturday along a portion of
the Pacific Northwest.
As an upper low/trough over the East continues shifting slowly
eastward today, positively tilted troughing will dig southeastward
across the West.
At the surface, high pressure will prevail over the eastern states.
Meanwhile, lee troughing is forecast to shift eastward into the
Plains, as a cold front advances southeastward across the western
and north-central portions of the country, ahead of the
aforementioned western upper trough.
With a lack of instability expected in advance of the cold front,
thunderstorm potential will remain largely nil over the CONUS. One
exception will be over the western portions of Washington/Oregon,
where cold air aloft associated with the upper trough crossing the
region may yield sufficient instability for a few stronger/embedded
