Day 1 Severe Weather Outlook

Valid 171630Z – 181200Z

…NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST…

…SUMMARY…
Severe thunderstorms are not expected in the contiguous U.S. through
tonight.

…South-central and Southeast States…
Large-scale trough amplification will occur over the north-central
CONUS/Great Lakes through tonight. A persistent warm conveyor will
accompany a northeast-advancing warm front across the south-central
CONUS. In response, elevated convection may develop by mid/late
afternoon across the middle Gulf Coast States, toward the ArkLaMiss
this evening, and into the Tennessee Valley later tonight. A
separate corridor of convection with embedded thunderstorms should
develop tonight across the Mid-South region as low-level convergence
strengthens along a southeastward-spreading cold front. Severe
storms are not expected, largely attributable to only weak elevated
buoyancy.
