YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...  Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across Cheyenne county Colorado, Wallace, Logan and perhaps Wichita counties in Kansas between 5 PM MDT and 7 PM MDT. A few of these storms could become severe with the primary hazards being cloud to ground lightning which may spark fires, hail up to half dollar size, and wind gusts up to 60 mph.  During the evening and overnight hours, shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to spread east and northeast across the remainder of the Tri-State area. A few thunderstorms could become severe with hail up to the size of ping pong balls and wind gusts to 60 mph. The area of greatest concern is west of a line from Wray, Colorado to Colby and Gove, Kansas.  Fog is also expected to develop after midnight producing reduced visibilities across a majority of the area.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...  Fog and reduced visibilities are expected Monday morning across the entire Tri-State area.  There is a Marginal Risk of severe thunderstorms Monday afternoon south of a line from Hill City and Oakley, Kansas. The primary hazard will be large hail followed by strong wind gusts.  Elevated fire weather conditions are possible Saturday afternoon west of a line from Flagler to Kit Carson, Colorado.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation may be needed. We would appreciate any reports of severe weather via telephone and social media. Report any fires to local dispatch.
