YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...  Strong southerly wind gusts in excess of 50 mph will gradually diminish to around 35 mph during the afternoon. A few areas of blowing dust and reduced visibility are anticipated through 2 PM MDT (3 PM CDT).  Although winds are expected to decrease, much warmer and drier air will build over the western portion of the area this afternoon. The combination of relative humidity values around 10 percent and wind gusts around 30 mph will create critical fire danger conditions.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...  Wednesday afternoon will bring the potential for elevated fire weather conditions.  On Friday, there will be a combination of potentially impactful weather conditions. Temperatures will approach record values as highs reach into the upper 80s to lower 90s. South winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts exceeding 45 mph are possible and are expected to produce areas of reduced visibility due to blowing dust. Dry conditions and strong south winds will produce a large area of critical fire weather conditions mainly west of U.S. Highway 83. East of U.S. Highway 83, there is also the chance of strong to severe thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation is not anticipated, although any reports of blowing dust are appreciated.
