This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado. .DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT... Rain showers and perhaps an isolated thunderstorm are possible through the day mainly south of Interstate 70 in western Kansas. Lightning and strong winds would be the primary hazards if a storm were to develop. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Cheyenne, Kit Carson and Yuma counties in Colorado along with a Winter Weather Advisory in Sherman and Cheyenne counties in Kansas and Dundy county in Nebraska through Sunday evening. Snow looks to develop around midnight across eastern Colorado and spread into northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska before sunrise Sunday. Blowing and accumulating snow is expected as north winds gust around 50 mph creating near blizzard conditions. A heavy snow band may develop resulting in significantly heavier snow and greater disruptions to holiday travel. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH SATURDAY... Winter Storm Watch and Winter Weather Advisory continues through the day Sunday as winds are forecasted to strengthen Sunday morning with winds gusting up to 50 mph through the day. With any ongoing or prior snowfall, visibility may be reduced to near zero at times and create hazardous to dangerous travel conditions. Monday and Tuesday are forecasted to see winds continue to gust between 30 and 50 mph. This could allow for blowing snow, where snow is able to accumulate which would reduce visibility and continue to make travel hazardous. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not expected. Visibility and snow reports will be greatly appreciated however.
