YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...  Elevated fire weather conditions will occur this afternoon in northeast Colorado and along the Kansas-Colorado border area due to gusty southwest winds, low humidity and dry fuels.  A few sporadic wind gusts of greater than 50 mph will be possible this afternoon and early evening as weakening showers and isolated thunderstorms move across the area out of Colorado.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...  A High Wind Watch continues for the entire Tri-State area Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon. Northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts around 60 mph are currently forecast. The strongest winds are expected late Thursday night through Friday morning. Patchy blowing dust will also be possible.  An isolated stronger thunderstorm or two will be possible Thursday afternoon. If thunderstorms develop, wind will be primary hazard, although a brief weak tornado cannot be ruled out.  Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions will be possible Thursday afternoon to early evening south of Highway 24 in northwest Kansas due to westerly winds gusting up to 45 mph, low humidity and dry fuels.  Light rain may change over to light snow late Thursday night in portions of northeast Colorado. However, little, if any, accumulation is expected at this time.  Low temperatures Friday night through Saturday morning will range from the middle 20s in eastern Colorado to the middle 30s in north central Kansas. A hard freeze is likely along and west of Highway 25.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation will not be required today or tonight.
