Near critical to briefly critical fire weather conditions are forecast for today across portions of Kit Carson and Cheyenne counties in Colorado along with portions of Greeley, Wichita, Wallace and Sherman counties in Kansas. Caution should be used if doing any burning outdoors or any activities that involves sparks. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY... A High Wind Watch has been issued for the entire Tri-State area Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon. Northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts around 60 mph are currently forecast. As a result, some blowing dust and reduced visibilities are possible. A period of rain/snow mix may occur across Yuma and Kit Carson counties overnight Thursday resulting in blowing snow further reducing visibilities. Little to no snow accumulation is currently forecast. Overall these winds will make travel difficult especially for high profile vehicles and may blow away any loose outdoor objects such as Halloween decorations.
