YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado. .DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT... Breezy to strong south winds will persist today. Bands of showers and thunderstorms anticipated to develop in Colorado late this afternoon will track slowly eastward into western Kansas this evening and tonight. A few severe storms are possible late this afternoon and early this evening, mainly in eastern Colorado and adjacent Kansas border counties. Locally damaging winds appear to be the primary severe weather hazard. A few instances of dime to quarter size hail cannot be ruled out. Locally heavy rainfall will accompany any slow moving storms. A fair amount of uncertainty persists with regard to thunderstorm coverage. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH MONDAY... Thunderstorms may redevelop over portions of the area during the early afternoon on Tuesday October 3rd, as an upper level disturbance over the 4-Corners lifts northeastward across Colorado and Nebraska. Severe storms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds are possible, mainly along and east of Highway 83 between 1 PM and 7 PM CDT. A fair amount of uncertainty exists with regard to whether or not storms will develop in far northwest Kansas. In other words, severe weather potential might be confined to areas situated a bit further east, in central Kansas. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotters are encouraged to report any severe or significant weather to the National Weather Service in Goodland via telephone or social media.
