YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...  A potentially high impact weather day may occur this afternoon and evening, generally in the 3 PM MDT (4 PM CDT) to 11 PM MDT (12 AM CDT) timeframe as a strong cold front moves through the area. The primary hazards include the potential for destructive wind gusts up to 80 mph, damaging hail up the size of ping-pong balls, and flash flooding or flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas. However confidence is higher for wind gusts of 65 MPH and hail closer to quarter in size to occur. Those with outdoor interests should stay aware of the weather and have a place of shelter in mind should warnings be issued.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...  The threat for severe thunderstorms will continue during the afternoon and evening hours Wednesday through the weekend. The primary hazards include large hail, damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall that may produce flash flooding or flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas. Thursday continues to be the most favorable day for severe weather during this timeframe.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation will be needed this afternoon and evening.
