A Red Flag Warning is in effect Thursday afternoon and early evening for Cheyenne county in Colorado, Wallace, Wichita, Greeley and Logan counties in Kansas. Dangerous fire weather conditions are expected and outdoor burning is highly discouraged. Additionally, blowing dust will produce reduced visibilities and unhealthy air quality for those generally east of a line from Kit Carson, Colorado to Goodland, Oberlin and Norton, Kansas Thursday afternoon through about sunset. Another area of concern for blowing dust is across western Yuma and Kit Carson counties. On Friday, counties along the Tri-State border may see northwest winds gusting above 50 mph with patchy blowing dust during the afternoon hours. Near Critical fire weather conditions are possible across extreme southwest Cheyenne county Colorado and extreme southwest Greeley county in Kansas.
