YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...  A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect for Yuma and Kit Carson Counties in Colorado, Dundy and Hitchcock Counties in Nebraska and Cheyenne, Rawlins, Sherman and Thomas Counties in Kansas. The watch is in effect from midnight tonight to midnight Monday night.  For all areas across the High Plains, there is the potential for accumulating snow as well as freezing rain that will impact area travel, both the Monday morning commute as well as travelers returning home from the Holidays. Snowfall accumulations up to one to three inches are possible, as well as ice accumulations as high as one tenth of an inch. Reduced visibilities due to blowing snow are also possible with this system.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...  A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for Yuma and Kit Carson Counties in Colorado, Dundy and Hitchcock Counties in Nebraska and Cheyenne, Rawlins, Sherman and Thomas Counties in Kansas. The watch is in effect until midnight Monday night.  Wind chill readings in the single numbers above and below zero are possible Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation is not expected at this time. Any reports of snow, ice or reduced visibilities with the system Sunday into Monday would be appreciated!
