YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...  A brief period of elevated to near critical fire weather conditions is expected for a limited portion of the area this afternoon, mainly in Kit Carson and Cheyenne counties in Colorado. Caution should be used if burning outdoors.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...  On Tuesday.. noticeably colder temperatures and breezy north winds will arrive in the wake of a cold frontal passage during the pre-dawn hours. 25 to 35 mph north winds will persist through most of the day, temperatures will struggle to exceed the freezing mark, and wind chill readings will remain in the single digits to teens.. even during the afternoon. Snow will develop over portions of the area Tuesday morning, mainly along and north of Interstate 70. Snow will begin a few hours after sunrise.. ending from west to east during the mid to late afternoon. Areas situated along and north of Highway 36 are more likely to experience hazardous travel conditions associated with light accumulating snow and blowing snow. Widespread and or significant impacts are presently not anticipated.  Wind chill readings will fall below zero late Tuesday evening, bottoming out at -5 to -15 degrees Wednesday morning.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation will not be needed.
