YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado. .DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT... A cold front will slowly track southeastward through northwest Kansas today. Breezy to strong southwest winds are anticipated ahead of the front, mainly along and south of Interstate 70 where blowing dust may result in localized reductions in visibility and the combined effect of strong winds, warm temperatures and ongoing drought conditions may encourage rapid wildfire growth. Burning of any kind is strongly discouraged. Winds will weaken as the front approaches, then shift to the north. Breezy north winds will arrive later this evening, several hours after the frontal passage. A few thunderstorms may develop over portions of northwest Kansas late this evening into tonight. Severe weather is not anticipated at this time. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH THURSDAY... A wintry mix of precipitation may affect portions of the Tri-State area early Friday morning. Confidence is low with regard to where, and whether or not, precipitation will develop. Localized accumulating wet snow cannot be ruled out. Widespread and or impactful winter weather is presently not anticipated. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not anticipated.
