YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...  Southerly winds gusting 35 to 45 mph will continue through early this evening. Winds of this magnitude may create difficult travel conditions for high-profile vehicles, especially on east-west highways such as Interstate 70, where cross winds will be strongest.  The gusty winds will lead to near critical fire weather conditions this afternoon. Caution is to be used if burning outdoors. Additionally, the gusty winds will produce a few instances of blowing dust, especially near open fields along and east of the Colorado Kansas border. Visibilities may approach zero for a short distance.  Isolated to scattered thunderstorms producing some gusty outflow winds to 55 mph and an additional threat for blowing dust and reduced visibilities.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...  There is a Marginal Risk of severe thunderstorms late Thursday afternoon through early evening for those east of a line from Indianola, Nebraska to Quinter, Kansas. The primary hazard is wind gusts to 60 mph.  Friday, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, mainly north of Interstate 70.  Elevated to Near Critical fire weather conditions are possible Monday afternoon, mainly along and west of Kansas Highway 27.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation will not be needed.
