YUMA COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska... northwest Kansas and east central Colorado. .DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT... Isolated thunderstorms are possible across much of the Tri-State region as early as noon MDT, continuing through 10 PM MDT. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are anticipated to move into Cheyenne and Kit Carson counties in Colorado around 5 PM MDT, continuing east-southeast across Wallace, Logan, Gove, Greeley and Wichita counties through 10 PM MDT. The primary hazards with these thunderstorms will be wind gusts to 65 mph, blowing dust and hail up to one inch in diameter. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY... A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for portions of the Tri-State area on Thursday, mainly in eastern Colorado and adjacent Kansas border counties. Near critical fire weather conditions are expected elsewhere. An abrupt northerly wind shift is anticipated during the late afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures are anticipated to fall into the 30s across much of the area late Friday night and Saturday morning. While temperatures are currently expected to remain at or above freezing, areas of frost are possible. Even if temperatures fall into the lower to middle 30s, widespread cloud cover could act to prevent frost formation. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will be needed from 5 PM MDT through 10 PM MDT. We would appreciate severe weather and blowing dust reports via telephone and social media.
