On Friday, high-impact and dangerous weather conditions are likely across a large part of northeast Colorado. From late Friday morning through Friday afternoon and Friday evening, an episode of extremely dangerous fire-weather conditions is expected across the foothills and plains. A volatile combination of 50-60 mph southerly wind gusts, temperatures in the upper 70s to the 80s, and widespread relative humidity of 7 to 11 percent will support the potential for extreme fire behavior including very rapid fire spread. Also from late Friday morning through Friday afternoon and Friday evening, very strong southerly winds gusting to 60 mph will be capable of producing damage across the eastern plains, generally along and southeast of a line from Akron to Limon. Strong winds may produce blowing dust reducing visibilities across much of the plains Friday afternoon and evening. For Friday evening into Friday night, there will be a small chance for thunderstorms along and east of a line from Holyoke to Julesburg. Storm development is uncertain, but if storms form they could become strong. In addition, snow is expected to develop over the mountains Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday. Several inches of snow could fall through the weekend over mountain peaks around the Continental Divide. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed today or tonight.
