WASHINGTON COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight Gusty winds up to 60 mph will through the mid morning in and near the foothills. Snow will arrive between 4 and 6pm this evening and will continue into Saturday morning. There is concern that the initial snow may initially melt on contact and then freeze after colder air arrives. This "flash freeze" could make road conditions very icy for the end of the evening commute. Snowfall amounts for the I-25 corridor will range from 3 to 7 inches, with up to 10 inches on the east slopes of the Front Range. The eastern plains will have an inch or two of snow, but that could still produce some travel impacts. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday An arctic airmass will bring bitterly cold air to Colorado beginning Saturday and lasting through Tuesday morning. Low temperatures could reach -5 to -15 degrees across the I-25 corridor and eastern plains. Temperatures during the day Monday may remain near zero. Wind chill values may reach as low as 30 degrees below zero creating danger for people, livestock, and pets spending time outside. The coldest conditions will be Sunday night through Monday night. Light snow continues into Saturday. The snow combined with the cold conditions will likely keep roads snow covered slippery through Saturday and into Saturday night. Another round of light snow is expected Sunday night into Monday. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed today or tonight.
