WASHINGTON COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight An ongoing potent wind event will continue today bringing strong downsloping winds to areas across the foothills and portions of the plains. Many areas will see gusts of 60-65 mph, with 65-90 mph gusts west of I-25. These winds will slowly begin to decrease this afternoon. With strong winds and low relative humidity values across parts of the plains today, there will be widespread elevated fire weather conditions in areas that did not benefit from yesterday's precipitation. Critical fire weather thresholds will be reached in Lincoln and Elbert Counties, therefore a Red Flag Warning is in effect from 10 AM this morning through 8 PM this evening. Scattered power outages, property damage to shingles and fences, broken tree limbs, and hazardous travel are all potential impacts. In addition, rapid wildfire spread and areas of blowing dust will be possible in areas that haven't seen any meaningful precipitation .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday There will be a chance of light snow in the mountains Monday and Wednesday but amounts and impacts will be very minimal. The only weather concern in the extended is the threat of critical fire weather conditions across the plains on Friday and Saturday due to warm, dry, and windy conditions. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed today or tonight.
