This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado. ...HIGH AND DAMAGING WINDS EXPECTED IN/NEAR THE FRONT RANGE FOOTHILLS AND OVER PORTIONS OF THE PLAINS THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING... ...HAZARDOUS WINTER TRAVEL CONDITIONS IN THE MOUNTAINS... .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight An exceptionally strong storm system will bring high winds to all of Colorado, with winds strengthening through this evening and continuing overnight. Many areas will see wind gusts of 60-65 mph, with 65-90 mph gusts west of I-25, and locally 100+ mph winds in wind prone areas in and immediately adjacent to the foothills. Scattered power outages, property damage to shingles and fences, broken tree limbs, and hazardous travel are all potential impacts. In addition, rapid wildfire spread and areas of blowing dust will be possible in areas that haven't seen any meaningful precipitation today. In the mountains, snow showers combined with strong winds and much colder temperatures will combine to reduce visibility and produce hazardous travel conditions. The heaviest snow amounts will be in the Park Range mountains. There is a very low chance (<20%) that this system will bring heavy snowfall to the far northeast corner of Colorado. If this does occur, blizzard conditions could develop late tonight due to the snow and strong winds. The powerful winds and modestly low humidity will result in critical fire weather conditions from eastern Larimer and Boulder Counties into the western Denver suburbs through tonight and Sunday. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday Winds will be strong Sunday morning, but will be decreasing in the afternoon. Gusts up to 90 mph are possible in and near the foothills, and up to 65 mph across the plains. There is a chance that strong winds and somewhat low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions across the plains Sunday afternoon. Winds are expected to slowly diminish Sunday afternoon and evening. Monday and Monday night, there will be a chance of snow in the mountains with a mix of rain/snow over the northeast plains. Tuesday and Wednesday, a chance of snow will remain in the mountains with a chance of rain showers possible over the northeast plains each afternoon and evening. Drier and warmer weather will occur for the rest of the week. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed today or tonight.
