This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight Bitterly cold air will spread across the plains and I-25 Corridor tonight. Dangerously cold wind chill readings as low as 35 below zero can be expected over the eastern plains. Frostbite and hypothermia will be possible for anyone exposed to the elements. It is important to dress appropriately with multiple layers of clothing, hat, and mittens if you do venture out. Snow and strong winds will both increase in intensity across the mountains this afternoon and evening. The heaviest snow and very difficult travel conditions are expected to occur this evening. Road closures will be possible in the high country. Snow will also spread across the plains, and a brief period of heavier snow will likely develop and spread south through the course of the evening. Roads will become slick with hazardous travel conditions. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday Additional light to moderate snowfall continues across the mountains and valleys through early next week. Expect the heaviest period of mountain snow Sunday morning. Allow additional time to reach your destination as hazardous travel conditions of slick roads and blowing could occur. Light snow spreads to the plains both Saturday and Sunday morning resulting in amounts between 1-4 inches. As low temperatures drop below zero Saturday through Tuesday, w ind chill readings during this period will be dangerously cold, with frostbite potential on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
