South Dakota…south central South Dakota…southwestern South
Dakota…and the Black Hills of South Dakota.
.DAY ONE…This Afternoon and Tonight
The grassland fire danger index will reach the high to very high
category today across the western and south-central South Dakota
plains. In addition, northwest winds will increase late this
afternoon, with gusts of 30 to 45 mph possible through the night.
Brief stronger wind gusts are possible across northwestern South
Dakota with passing showers.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Thursday through Tuesday
The grassland fire danger index will reach the high to very high
category again on Thursday afternoon, with high to extreme fire
danger possible again Friday and Saturday. Also, northwest winds
will gust from 35 to 50 mph across much of the western through
south-central South Dakota plains until around midday Thursday.
