…NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST…
…SUMMARY…
Severe thunderstorms are not expected across the U.S. mainland
today.
…Synopsis…
A strong upper-level trough will impact the Pacific Northwest today.
Very cold air aloft will steepen lapse rates such that marginal
buoyancy (generally 100-250 J/kg MUCAPE) will exist mainly along and
just inland of the coast. As a weak surface trough/boundary moves
ashore this afternoon, a few isolated thunderstorms will be possible
from coastal portions of northern California, Oregon, and
Washington. This activity should diminish by early evening. No
severe weather is expected.
