SUMMARY…Snow will increase in intensity through 15Z with rates of
one inch/hour possible.
DISCUSSION…Upper-level low pressure was gradually deepening in the
vicinity of the KS/NE border at 10Z while moving slowly northeast.
Broad surface low pressure was located over Iowa with a warm front
extending east/southeast across northern IL. An increase in
large-scale lift is expected across the discussion area through mid
morning as heights fall with the approaching/deepening system,
coupled with low-level warm advection in the 850-700 mb layer. As a
result, snow intensity should increase over the next few hours with
rates of one inch/hour possible through 15Z.
