Severe thunderstorms are not forecast across the contiguous United
States through tonight.
…Synopsis…
A progressive flow regime will characterize the upper-air pattern
today as a mid-level shortwave trough moves from the lower MS Valley
east to the northeast of the Bahamas by late tonight. A mid-level
low over the east Pacific will slowly migrate east towards the
northern CA/OR coast. Weak and primarily elevated thunderstorms are
possible during the morning and perhaps lingering into the early
afternoon over parts of MS/AL before diminishing. Farther west,
scant instability associated with cold temperatures in the midlevels
will favor intermittent lightning flashes with convection over
northern CA.
