...SNOW TONIGHT THEN DANGEROUS COLD THROUGH TUESDAY... This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado. .DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight Gusty winds of 50-55 mph over portions of the plains will produce areas of blowing dust and locally reduced visibility early this afternoon. Snow will arrive between 4 and 6 pm this evening and will continue into Saturday morning. The first flakes will arrive even earlier along the northern border. There is concern that the initial snow may initially melt on contact and then freeze after colder air arrives. This "flash freeze" could make road conditions very icy for the end of the evening commute. Total snowfall amounts for the I-25 corridor are expected to range from 3 to 7 inches, with up to 10 inches on the east slopes of the Front Range. The eastern plains will have an inch or two of snow, but that could still produce some travel impacts. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday An arctic airmass will bring bitterly cold air to Colorado beginning Saturday and lasting through Tuesday morning. At lower elevations temperatures will be in the single digits above or below zero for an extended time. Low temperatures will be zero to 15 below across the I-25 corridor and eastern plains, and temperatures during the day Monday may stay in the single digits. Wind chill values on the plains may reach as low as 30 degrees below zero creating danger for people, livestock, and pets spending time outside. The coldest conditions will be Sunday night through Monday night. Light snow will continue into Saturday with decreasing impact on travel. Another round of light snow is expected Sunday night into Monday. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Snowfall reports from spotters will be appreciated.
