This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight Bitterly cold air will spread across the plains and I-25 Corridor tonight. Dangerously cold wind chill readings as low as 35 below zero can be expected over the eastern plains. Frostbite and hypothermia will be possible for anyone exposed to the elements. It is important to dress appropriately with multiple layers of clothing, hat, and mittens if you do venture out. Snow and strong winds will increase across the mountains this afternoon with a period of heavy snow over the higher mountains starting around sunset. Travel over the mountains will be very difficult tonight, and road closures will be possible. Snow will also spread across the plains, and a brief period of heavier snow is expected in the mid to late evening. This is most likely north of Denver, but it may occur as far south as Denver and Castle Rock. Most areas will see an inch or two of snow overnight, but locally higher amounts up to four inches are possible where the heavier snow band sets up. Many roads will get icy or snow covered. The worst conditions will likely be somewhere along the I-25 corridor from Denver northward in the late evening and early morning hours. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday Moderate to heavy snowfall will occur in the mountains late Saturday night and Sunday morning, followed by periods of light to moderate snowfall for the mountains and valleys into early next week. Light snow will spread into parts of the plains both Saturday morning and Sunday morning, resulting in amounts ranging anywhere from just a trace to 4 inches. Frigid conditions will occur Saturday through Tuesday, as low temperatures drop well below zero. Wind chill readings during this period will be dangerously cold, with frostbite potential on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
