Heat indices ranging near 100-101 degrees are forecast today across portions of Dundy, Hitchcock, and Red Willow counties in Nebraska. Some showers and storms may affect western portions of Yuma and Kit Carson counties in Colorado late this afternoon through the evening. Primary hazards are sudden wind gusts up to 65 mph. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH FRIDAY... A Heat Advisory is in effect on Saturday from noon through 8 PM CDT for Red Willow, Decatur, Norton, Sheridan, Graham and Gove counties. Heat index values of 106 to 108 degrees are expected; heat indices may not fall below 75 degrees Saturday night for some locations which may cause additional stress to livestock and pets. Additionally, near record to record high temperatures are forecast for many locations across the Tri-State area Saturday and Sunday. Elevated to Near Critical fire weather conditions are anticipated across the Tri-State area each day from Sunday through mid-week.
