WASHINGTON COUNTY HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

 ...WINTER STORM WATCH FOR NORTHERN MOUNTAINS FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY...  This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central Colorado.  .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight  Strong and gusty winds will develop early this morning over the mountains and foothills, spreading eastward over the plains through the morning hours. Gusts up to 65 mph are expected over the mountains and up to 45 mph across the plains. The winds will decrease during the afternoon hours. Snow showers in the higher mountains will diminish by afternoon with any additional accumulations under 2 inches.  Winds will increase again over the higher mountains with speeds up to 55 mph developing later tonight in advance of the next storm system.  Red flag conditions are possible over portions of the Boulder and Denver areas and Douglas county this afternoon with gusty winds and low humidities.  .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday  Expect periods of light to moderate snowfall in the mountains, and travel impact will likely be minor most days. The best chance for heavier snowfall and significant travel impacts across the high country will be Friday night through Saturday due to snow and blowing snow. A cold front will move across the plains on Saturday with a chance of rain showers in the afternoon, mixing with or changing over to snow Saturday night, especially near the foothills and Palmer Divide.  .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...  Spotter activation will not be needed today or tonight.
